Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20 blend)
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 tbsp Traeger Garlic & Chili Pepper Rub
  • 1 tbsp A1 Steak Sauce
  • 1 tsp dried thyme
  • 4 hamburger buns
  • 4 slices cheese (optional)
  • Toppings: lettuce, tomato, pickles, onions, ketchup, mustard

Method

Prepare Patties:
  1. In a bowl, combine ground beef, egg yolk, Traeger rub, A1 sauce, and thyme. Mix gently and form into 4 patties, each about 5 inches wide and 1 inch thick. Let them rest for 5 minutes.
Preheat Smoker:
  1. Set your Traeger smoker to 225°F (107°C).
Smoke Patties:
  1. Place patties directly on the grill grates. Smoke for 40-50 minutes until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C). Optionally, flip halfway through.
Add Cheese:
  1. During the last minute of smoking, place a slice of cheese on each patty to melt.
Toast Buns:
  1. Place buns on the grill for 2-3 minutes until lightly toasted.
Assemble Burgers:
  1. Spread your favorite sauce on the bottom bun. Add the smoked patty, then top with lettuce, tomato, pickles, onions, and any other desired toppings.
