Ingredients
  

  • 6 Bell Peppers – Used as the base to stuff and hold the filling.
  • 1 lb Shaved Steak – The main protein, providing the classic Philly cheesesteak flavor.
  • 2 oz Mushrooms (sliced) – Adds umami and texture to the filling.
  • 2 tbsp Olive Oil – For sautéing the vegetables and steak.
  • Salt (to taste) – Enhances the overall flavor of the dish.
  • Black Pepper (to taste)
  • Red Pepper Flakes (to taste)
  • 2 cups Cooked Rice
  • Cheese (Provolone or Mozzarella, shredded)

Method
 

Step 1: Prepare the Bell Peppers
  1. Preheat oven to 425°F (218°C).
  2. Slice the tops off bell peppers, remove seeds and membranes.
  3. Brush with olive oil and place on baking sheet.
  4. Bake for 20 minutes (add 5–10 more minutes if you like softer peppers).
Step 2: Cook the Filling
  1. Heat 2 tbsp olive oil in a large pan over medium heat.
  2. Add sliced mushrooms, sauté for 3–4 minutes.
  3. Add shaved steak. Season with salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes.
  4. Cook until steak browns and is fully cooked.
  5. Drain excess fat.
  6. Stir in cooked rice and mix well.
Step 3: Assemble the Peppers
  1. Remove baked peppers from oven.
  2. Add a layer of cheese at the bottom of each pepper.
  3. Fill with steak and mushroom mixture.
  4. Top with more cheese.
Step 4: Bake to Finish
  1. Lower oven to 350°F (177°C).
  2. Bake stuffed peppers for 10 minutes or until cheese melts.
  3. For browning, broil for 1–2 minutes.
  4. Let rest 5 minutes before serving.
  5. Garnish with fresh parsley or cilantro.
