Ingredients
  

  • 4-5 Gala apples peeled, cored, and diced
  • 1 teaspoon Cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons Maple syrup or sugar-free maple syrup
  • 1 tablespoon Lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons White sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Butter softened for greasing ramekins
Oat Topping:
  • 1 cup Rolled oats old-fashioned oats preferred
  • 1/4 cup Flour
  • 1/4 cup Brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup Butter melted
  • 1/2 teaspoon Ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon Ground ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon Ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 cup Chopped pecans optional
  • 1 tablespoon Maple syrup

Equipment

  • Mini Dutch ovens or ramekins

Method
 

Prepare the Apples:
  1. Peel, core, and dice the Gala apples into small cubes.
  2. Toss the apples in a medium bowl with lemon juice, cinnamon, white sugar, and maple syrup. Mix well using a flexible spatula to coat the apples evenly.
Prepare the Ramekins:
  1. Grease mini Dutch ovens or ramekins with softened butter.
  2. Divide the prepared apple mixture evenly into the ramekins, ensuring they are filled to the top.
Air Fry the Apples:
  1. Preheat your air fryer to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Place the ramekins into the air fryer basket and cook for about 20 minutes, until the apples are tender and golden brown.
Prepare the Oat Topping:
  1. While the apples are cooking, make the oat topping. In a large bowl, combine rolled oats, flour, brown sugar, and melted butter.
  2. Sift in ground cinnamon, ground ginger, and ground nutmeg for added warmth. Stir to combine.
  3. Add chopped pecans (if using) and maple syrup. Mix until everything is well combined.
Add the Topping:
  1. After the initial 20 minutes of cooking, remove the ramekins from the air fryer.
  2. Generously sprinkle the oatmeal topping over the apples in each ramekin.
  3. Cover the ramekins with foil and return them to the air fryer.
  4. Cook for an additional 5 minutes, then remove the foil and bake for another 5 minutes until the topping is crispy and golden.
Serve:
  1. Once done, remove the ramekins from the air fryer and place them on a cooling rack.
  2. Serve the apple crisp warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, a drizzle of caramel sauce, or a dollop of Greek yogurt for added indulgence.
